The NZLLA Conference Committee welcomes proposals for the 2025 NZLLA Conference, exploring the theme of “Whanaungatanga: Connections in the Digital Age.”
Whanaungatanga emphasises the value of kinship, shared experiences and working together. In the context of law librarianship, this theme acknowledges the need to maintain and strengthen human connections while adapting to the digital transformation of legal resources and services: connections with our users, our partners and vendors, our colleagues and the wider legal and library profession.
Our theme recognises that the changing digital environment offers both challenges and opportunities for whanaungatanga, and for improving our professional practice.
We look forward to you sharing with us your knowledge, expertise, experience and inspiration in exploring the intersection of values, relationships and modern technology in law librarianship.Topics might include (but aren’t exclusive to):
• AI and other emerging technologies in a legal information setting
• Te ao and tikanga Māori – improving our cultural competency in our work and as a profession
• How to make our profession more visible, more appealing, more inclusive and more diverse
• Using tech tools to market our skills and services to our users in an increasingly dispersed workplace.
• Digital innovations in fostering professional connections
• Balancing technology and human relationships
• Virtual communities
• Fostering a new generation of digital native law librarians
